How did this product customization project go live?
Caroline, project manager at SmartPixels, was in charge of creating an interactive and magical shopping experience for Christian Louboutin Beauté’s new makeup line. In this interview, she will go through the process of launching this interactive web product configurator experience.
The brand wanted to create an engaging experience around the products, and the team decided to implement customization options based on a mix of packshots and 3D graphics. The configurators allow customers to see charms appearing and disappearing in real-time on the lipstick based on their choices.
Caroline and the team organized the project by starting with UX mockups, giving different propositions to the brand until they found the one they preferred. They then implemented the UX and realised the integration on the Magento e-commerce platform. The web configurators are now available on the brand’s website, and soon they will be available in-store.
The advantages of this mixed reality (hybrid 3D and photo) solution are numerous. The interactive and engaging experience keeps customers on the website longer, which increases conversion rates, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty. Christian Louboutin Beauté’s new makeup line is a testament to the power of online configurators and the importance of creating magical experiences for customers.
Can you tell us more about this project?
Christian Louboutin Beauté wanted to launch a new makeup offer, and the overall theme was “magic”. Thus, they wanted to create an interactive, engaging, magical personalization experience around these products.
SmartPixels decided to go for online web configurators on their website.
Regarding the solution, these configurators were based on a mixed reality of packshots and 3D.
So for example, for the lipstick, you could see the charms appearing and disappearing according to the choice of the customer.
The four web configurators are now online on the website and soon they will be available in-store. Consumers will be able to interact with the products, configure them and go back home with them since the salesperson will be able to assemble the items altogether.
What was the process of setting up these online product configurators?
We started by doing UX mockups. We did different suggestions and then the brand chooses the one they prefer, and we build upon that until the end.
And in parallel, we started to implement the UX and do the integration on Magento, their e-commerce platform.
We collect the currency, language, and stock information for each item and then return the corresponding Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) for each item to the shopping cart. This SKU, which is unique to each product, is then used to track the item and process the purchase.
What are the advantages of this hybrid 3D and photo solution?
This is an interactive and engaging experience that encourages customers to spend more time on the websites. As a result, the conversion rate is higher and customer satisfaction and loyalty are improved. This also helps to foster relationships between businesses and customers, creating a more positive overall brand experience. Additionally, customers are more likely to return to the website and make repeat purchases, further increasing sales and profits.
In conclusion, Caroline and the SmartPixels’ team created a magical and interactive experience for Christian Louboutin Beauté’s new makeup line using web configurators based on a mix of packshots and 3D graphics.
The web product configurators allow customers to see charms appearing and disappearing on the lipstick based on their choices, and this hybrid 3D and photo solution has numerous advantages, including increased customer engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty.
By organizing the project with UX mockups and implementing the UX on the Magento e-commerce platform, Caroline and her team were able to create a seamless digital content experience for customers.
This project serves as a testament to the power of hybrid 3D web product configurators and the importance of creating magical experiences for customers and offering 3D product customization.
